Static on PodcastingToday

PodcastingToday, the UK's podcast industry news site, wrote about Static today: Static introduces live dial for independent podcasts. Thank you to Steve Collins for taking the time to really look at what we made.

The piece gets at the things we care about most. Static has nine always-on stations of independent shows, every one picked by hand. Everyone tuned to a station hears the same moment, so you spin the dial and land in a show already in progress, with a live count of who's listening alongside you. There's no account and no algorithm, and nothing corporate or AI-generated on the dial.

Every listen counts for the show

Each episode streams straight from the show's own feed. We don't copy or re-host anyone's audio, so every listen lands in the podcaster's own stats like a normal download, with their ads and sponsor reads intact. When a show has a funding link in its feed, Static puts a Support button right beside it.

Between shows, Static plays 30-second community bulletins: a shop opening, a new record, a lost pet, a podcaster plugging their own show. Anyone can book one, and they're how Static pays for itself, along with our Patreon.

A page for every show

If your show is on Static, it has its own page now. It shows how many times your show has played on Static and when, your next airing when one is coming up, a button to tune in to your station, and a link you can share with your listeners. Featured shows also get a free bulletin of their own.

Know a show that belongs on the dial? Suggest it.
