Chopmatic turns any song or sample into an instrument. Open a file or record a sound, chop it to the beat, play the slices on pads, build multitrack beats, lay them out as a song and export the lot. Split out drums, bass, vocals and other parts on your device. No account. No upload. No subscription.
What it does
Bars on a tempo grid with tempo detection, Loops that really loop, Spikes on every transient, Equal slices from 4 to 64, or Manual: tap the waveform to cut, and drag any edge.
Every slice is a pad: tap to hear it, hold to loop it. Repeat plays a held pad in time, and 16 Levels spreads one chop across 16 pads in pitch, velocity or filter. Each pad has its own pitch, gain, filter and reverse, plus choke groups.
16 sequences of 1, 2, 4 or 8 bars, with a row for each chop, up to 16 tracks. Tap steps, drag to paint, or press Rec and play. Quantized or Human: every hit keeps its step and the timing you really played.
Lay your sequences out on a 64-bar timeline by tapping or dragging, and drag and drop them to reorder. Undo and redo cover everything.
Separate any sample into drums, bass, vocals and other parts, then chop, play and sequence each one. Mono or stereo, with an 11 or 16 kHz range. Made for chopping and resampling, so expect a little bleed rather than a studio master.
Record a new sample from the microphone and chop it straight away. Resample a sequence or the whole song into a new sample, and chop that.
On iPad and Mac, Chopmatic is also an Audio Unit (AUv3) instrument. Your host's notes play the pads, it plays locked to the host's tempo and transport, and everything is saved with your project.
Plug in a pad controller or keyboard and play: notes from C1 up play the pads with no setup. MIDI Learn maps your knobs and buttons to tempo, swing, transport and the pad controls.
Every slice as its own WAV, kits for other samplers (SFZ and more), a Portable Kit that plays in any browser, a sequence or the whole song as one WAV that loops seamlessly, and session files to open on another device.

Chopping, playing, sequencing, recording and stem separation all happen on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and the files you export go only where you choose to save them. The one network request is the stem-separation model, which downloads once (about 79 MB) the first time you split stems, and from then on works offline.
Chopmatic opens WAV, AIFF, MP3, AAC and FLAC, and the soundtrack of a video, at their own sample rate and channels. It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. Every feature is included: no in-app purchases, no subscription, no account.
