Agreement
By using Chopmatic, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app or related services.
About Chopmatic
Chopmatic is a sampler, sample chopper and beat maker, provided by Made With Best Practice LLC (“Best Practice”). It opens and records audio, chops it into slices you play on pads, sequences them into multitrack beats and songs, separates audio into stems on your device, and exports slices, sampler kits, loops and session files. On iPad and Mac it is also an Audio Unit (AUv3) instrument for use inside other music apps.
Your Audio and Your Rights
This is the important one. You keep ownership of the audio, recordings, sessions, sequences and songs you work with in Chopmatic, and you are responsible for having the rights to everything you open, record, chop, split, resample, export, publish or share with it. Much recorded music is protected by copyright: chopping a song or separating its stems does not give you the right to use the result, and publishing or selling music that samples someone else's recording may need their permission. It is up to you to know what you may use, and to clear it.
Stems and Detection Are Approximate
Stem separation is made for chopping and resampling. A split will carry some bleed between parts and is not a studio master. Tempo detection, the loop finder and transient detection make a best guess from the audio, and can be wrong. Check the results by ear before you rely on them.
Inside Other Apps
As a plugin, Chopmatic depends on the host app, its version, and the operating system. Its session is saved in the host's project, so it is only as safe as that project file. We do not warrant compatibility with any particular host, operating system version, MIDI controller, or device, including future ones.
Keep Your Own Copies
Your sessions, recordings and exports live on your device, and nowhere else — we keep no copy. Deleting the app, clearing its data, or losing or resetting the device can lose them. Export anything you care about, and back it up.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Chopmatic for unlawful, infringing, or deceptive purposes.
- Open, record, export, publish or share audio you do not have the right to use.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, or abuse the app or services.
- Use the app in a way that suggests it is made or endorsed by the maker of another app, instrument, or file format it works with.
Purchase
Chopmatic is a one-time purchase of $7.99 USD in the United States, with the price in other countries set by the store. Every feature is included. There are no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no ads, and no account.
The purchase, its payment, pricing, taxes, refunds, and availability are handled by the App Store or Google Play under their own terms. Refunds are available only as the store's policies or applicable law provide; to ask for one, use the store you bought from.
Open-Source Components
Chopmatic's stem separation is built from open-source software and models, and it uses the IBM Plex typeface, each of which remains under its own licence. Those licences and their attributions are listed in the app under SETTINGS › LICENCES. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by an applicable open-source licence.
Other Makers' Names
Chopmatic is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the makers of Decent Sampler or the OP-1, or of any other app, instrument, or format it works with. Their names are used only to describe what Chopmatic exports to or works alongside, and remain the trademarks of their owners.
Intellectual Property
Chopmatic, Best Practice, the app design, branding, software, and related materials are owned by Best Practice or its licensors. These terms do not grant you ownership of the app or brand assets.
Disclaimers
Chopmatic is provided “as is” and “as available,” with all faults and without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, quiet enjoyment, non-infringement, uninterrupted operation, availability, and error-free performance.
We do not warrant that stems will separate cleanly, that tempo or loop detection will be correct, that an exported kit will load in any particular sampler or app, or that the app is suitable for any particular device, host, or workflow.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Best Practice and its owners, employees, contractors, partners, affiliates, and licensors will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or other damages arising from or related to your use of, reliance on, or inability to use Chopmatic.
This limitation includes lost or corrupted samples, recordings, sessions, or projects, lost work, lost profits, interrupted performances or sessions, copyright or other claims arising from audio you use, and claims by third parties, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Changes
We may update Chopmatic or these terms from time to time. Continued use after updated terms are posted means you accept the updated terms.
